Unlocking Insights with Functional Medicine Tests
We recognize that each individual is unique and so are their health requirements. Our functional medicine tests go beyond traditional diagnostics to provide a deeper understanding of your body’s internal functions, helping us to tailor personalized solutions to enhance your overall well-being and vitality.
Comprehensive Testing for Holistic Insights
Estrogen metabolism profile
- Assess whether the body can eliminate the by-product of estrogen metabolism
- Useful in monitoring ladies on hormone therapy
- For people with very strong family history of breast cancer
- To monitor how the body breaks down her own Estrogen
- People with breast cancer can use it as a monitoring purpose of Estrogen hormone
Fatty acid studies (Omega 3 Index, Omega 3/6/9)
Omega-3 fatty acids are essential for the human body, providing numerous benefits for the heart, brain, eyes and joints. They help reduce inflammation, prevent blood clots and improve membrane function thereby lowering the risk of heart complications such as heart disease, plaque build-up and heart attacks in both individuals with a history of heart disease as well as healthy people.
Additionally, omega-3 fats are crucial for optimal brain development and support mental function, especially as we age.
Omega 3 Test
- A way to determine Cell Membrane Health
- To monitor the adequacy of omega supplements
Amino acid profile
Amino acids are basic protein building blocks that are involved in almost all the metabolic/enzymatic processes of the body. This test is to assess metabolism/usage of amino acids whilst identify possible metabolic and cofactor deficiencies.
Organic acid testing
To evaluate the function of metabolic pathways (carbohydrate and fat metabolism), assess nutrient deficiencies (such as B complex vitamins and amino acids), analyze neurotransmitter metabolism and detect bacterial, yeast, or fungal dysbiosis in the gut.
DNA testing
Our DNA panel tests aim to identify hundreds of genes associated with your risk of health and diseases. These tests may focus on various aspects including risk of cardiovascular disease, cancer and overall health concerns. Specific panels examine how DNA influences different areas of health such as digestion, energy metabolism, hormone regulation, stress response, cognitive performance, inflammation, athletic performance, DNA protection and repair/detoxification.
Circulating tumour cells (CTC)
Circulating Tumor Cells (CTCs) are cancer cells found in the bloodstream. They originate from a primary tumor, enter circulation and have the ability to travel to other parts of the body similar to blood cells. While CTCs are rarely present in the blood of healthy individuals, their detection can indicate the need for further cancer assessments. This testing is particularly useful for individuals with a personal or family history of cancer or those whose lifestyle is at high risk of developing cancer.
Once CTCs are detected, additional assessments are typically recommended to confirm the presence of cancer. These cells can be further analyzed (immuno-phenotyped) to determine their origin such as for breast, colon, lung, melanoma or prostate cancer.
Monitoring the count of CTCs can also be valuable in tracking cancer recurrence following treatments like surgery or chemoradiation.
Furthermore, CTCs can undergo testing to assess their sensitivity or resistance to various treatments, including cytotoxic drugs, targeted therapies, as well as natural substances and plant extracts. This information helps tailor treatment plans to individual patients, potentially improving treatment efficacy and outcomes.
NAD+ & NADH levels
NAD is a vital coenzyme involved in numerous cellular processes, including DNA repair to prevent cancer, elimination of aging cells, mitochondrial function, anti-inflammatory responses, regulation of sleep and immune function. It catalyzes over 500 enzymatic reactions, including those crucial for generating cellular energy (ATP).
As we age, NAD levels naturally decline, leading to diminished cellular function and vitality, contributing to various age-related conditions such as hypertension and cardiovascular disease. Monitoring NAD+/NADH ratio provides insight into the cellular “energy state.” A decreased ratio indicates metabolic imbalance and energy deficiency, which can adversely affect overall health.
This test is particularly beneficial for individuals taking NAD/NMN supplements, allowing them to assess the efficacy of their supplementation regimen and track progress in optimizing cellular function and energy levels.
Stool microbiome
Comprehensive Digestive Stool Analysis (CDSA):
An advanced non-invasive toolkit that combines a large number of tests to obtain a comprehensive picture of a patient’s gut health.
The analysis investigates digestion, metabolism, absorption and metabolic markers, pancreatic function, the balance of beneficial bacteria and the presence of pathological bacteria, yeast and parasites.
The test provides useful results on:
- Macroscopic and microscopic description
- Microbiome – the human GI tract houses more than 1,000 species of microbial organisms, almost all of them bacteria, collectively known as the microbiome
- Metabolic – a series of biomarkers that indicate the microbial production of beneficial molecules
- Gut ecosystem – bacteriology, fungal mycology and parasitic infections, a listing of both commensal and additional bacteria using visual detection culture and Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) technology
Useful for those with digestive symptoms or “leaky gut”; dermatological conditions; allergic symptoms; chronic unexplained neurological symptoms such as depression, brain fog, fatigue; suspected worm/parasitic infection; certain autoimmune conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis which can be worsened by gut microbiome imbalance.
Components of Comprehensive Digestive Stool Analysis(CDSA):
- Macroscopic and microscopic description of stool
- Digestive and absorption markers (short chain fatty acids, pancreatic elastase)
- Metabolic markers
- Beneficial & pathogenic bacteria; Yeasts, Parasites; Worms
- Antibiotic/Natural agents sensitivities; Includes pH
Optional Add ons:
- Tumor markers (H. Pylori Antigen, M2 Pyruvate Kinase)
- Inflammation markers (Calprotectin, Secretory IgA Faecal, Transglutaminase IgA)
- Faecal DNA Multiplex PCR (stool) : PCR detection and identification of 10 parasitic & bacterial organisms
